Welcome to Fifth Grade.
Welcome to Fifth Grade.
My
name is Lisa Stevens and this year I teach fifth grade and Middle
School Spanish.
This
is my second year at Lone Rock. Years ago, I used to sub here. I
taught Spanish at Corvallis High School prior to coming to Lone
Rock.
I have always really liked Lone Rock. We moved here several years ago. My children have all attended this school. I've always been really impressed with the staff here at Lone Rock and the fine education that my children have received here. I also wanted to be closer to my home.
My
daughter told me that the Spanish teacher that used to work here
was leaving and asked me to apply. I wasn't looking for a job but
here I am!
What
are the highlights of your school year?
One of the highlights of the school year is the annual Bison Range Roundup that the fifth graders get to participate in. I'm looking forward to some of the other fieldtrips we will be participating in.
What
are the interesting projects your class works on?
We
are working on a Native American unit which will tie into our Bison
unit.
What
is the best part of teaching at Lone Rock? Why do you like teaching
here?
Lone Rock has been around for over a century. There's a little bit of a pioneer spirit here and a real sense of community. People look out for each other's children and there is an expectation that kids will rise to the occasion and put forth the effort to do well.
I like the beautiful mountains that surround this area and the openness of the valley. I like watching the school sports and seeing these teams pull together against teams from the larger schools in the valley. I like working with the staff and working on how we can carry on the pioneer spirit and make this great school even better.
