About Mrs. Miller:
This is Mrs. Miller's 17th year at Lone Rock School.
Questions and Answers:
How did you come to teach here?
My children went to school here and I had always liked the community
involvement in the school. I also liked the staff and liked the way
they had a genuine concern for each student.
I came here from Stevensville where I taught Special Ed. for l0 years.
My first teaching experience was one year in Shelby in the Resource
Room.
What are the highlights of your school year?
When the children realize that the sounds blend together to form words.
When reading finally clicks and the light bulbs come on and it starts
making sense to them. They are so excited and want to keep reading and
reading. My goal as a teacher is to make everyday fun and exciting and
having the students look forward to school every day. I am the one who
sets the foundation for their educational attitude. I try to make everything
an adventure.
What are the interesting projects your class works on?
We study whales and other animals that live in the ocean. We also explore
the Chinese New Year. Being a helpful friend and working together to
help each other is stressed at Thanksgiving. Studying communities and
how we work together to help each other is very important. We also cook
using the letter of the week which will help them work on the letter
and sounds and to have them connect to something they are familiar with.
What is the best part of teaching at Lone Rock? Why do you like teaching
here?
The best part of teaching is the children.
I really like how the community gets involved and how supportive they
are in helping our school. I have great parent volunteers that have
grown into great friends.
The staff is also wonderful and supportive and really helps when you
need it.
