About Mrs. Stanford:
Questions and Answers:
How long have you been at Lone Rock?
This has been my "home away from home" for going on thirty-nine
years. I have taught fulltime, part time, and substituted here for about
twenty years. I have been here fulltime again for the last eight years.
How did you come to teach here?
When Mr. Stanford and I graduated from college, Mr. Stanford was hired
here. The rest is history.
What are the highlights of your school year?
I have a sweet group of students. We consider ourselves family since
we spend so much time together. It is important that we care about each
other and watch out for each other. It makes for a very cohesive classroom.
Students are kinder to each other and help each other more.
What are the interesting projects your class works on?
One of the biggest stirs for the students is presenting oral book reports.
It is a new experience for all of them, but usually after the first
one, they are hooked. That leads me to the "Hooked On Fishing,
Not On Drugs" program in which both fourth grade classes participate.
What is the best part of teaching at Lone Rock? Why do you like teaching
here?
When Mr. Stanford and I came to the Lone Rock Community, our plan was
to be here a couple of years and then go somewhere else. Well, this
is Mr. Stanford's thirty-ninth year, and we are still here. We became
a part of this community which is like family. We found that we didn't
want to move on and leave our "family."
