About Ms. Wight:

This is Ms. Wight's fifth year at Lone Rock School.

Questions and Answers:

How did you come to teach here?

I've lived in and loved the Bitterroot Valley for all my adult life. I was happy to be able to do my student teaching with the immensely talented Nancy LaBuff. When a teaching position came open the next year I chose Lone Rock over other offers. I loved the wonderful community support and couldn't pass up the opportunity to work with such a dedicated teaching staff.

What are the highlights of your school year?

I get to work with children from kindergarten through eighth grade and witness the progress they are making every day. It is wonderful when students get to the point where they can say that they like math or they enjoy reading.

What are the interesting projects your class works on?

Reading students work on improving their fluency so they can read to younger children. Math students solve puzzles and try to stump their friends and teachers.

What is the best part of teaching at Lone Rock? Why do you like teaching here?

The best part of teaching at Lone Rock is a toss-up between the wonderful children and the wonderful staff. The children are a delight each and every day as they learn and gain confidence in their skills. Working with so many dedicated teachers keeps me on my toes as we work together to help each student.
